Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Caliper?
Caliper is a talent-management company that, for more than a half-century, has helped businesses with talent acquisition, leadership development, succession planning, and organizational change.
What is the Caliper Profile?
The Caliper Profile is a scientific instrument for in-depth personality assessment and job matching, and it is the foundation of our work.
The Caliper Profile has been validated by nearly a half-century of research and measures more than 25 personality traits that relate to job performance.
Our consultants analyze those traits in a variety of combinations to advise our clients on: hiring someone new, improving employee performance, building more effective teams, and working to take your company to the next level.
It can be taken online or in paper format, and it provides clear, objective information on an individual’s strengths, limitations, motivations and potential. Since it was first developed, the Profile Assessment Test has undergone continuous refinement, and it ranks today as one of the most advanced tools for matching personality to job performance.
The Caliper Profile is part of a process of gathering information about an individual’s natural strengths, motivators, and potential to succeed in a particular role. Other factors to be considered in any important personnel decision include: impressions conveyed in interviews, a review of past performance, and referrals from former supervisors.
How long does it take to complete the Profile? Is it timed?
It takes 60 to 75 minutes to complete, and it is not timed.
In what languages is the assessment available?
Along with English and Spanish, our assessment is also available in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, and Thai.
Can I see my results?
Caliper does not send assessment results to individuals who complete the Caliper Profile.
The client company, not Caliper, would make the final decision about sharing the assessment results, as the information (i.e., percentile ranking data) becomes the property of said client.
Please contact the company for whom you took the assessment. Only they have the ability to disclose the results to you, not Caliper.
How Do I Answer the Most/Least Questions?
Throughout the Caliper Profile process, you will be asked to select statements that are most and least like you.
In these instances, to advance to the next question and screen, you will need to supply two responses per question. (As example, questions 68, 69, 94, and 95 fall under this category.) Once you have clicked one radio button from the “Most” column and one from the “Least” column, the question will transition from orange to green. Now, you’re ready to move forward!
Why can’t I access the assessment?
Here are three possible scenarios:
1. The link is broken.
If you are unable to click on the link that was sent to you, or if it does not take you to the proper website, please contact the company that asked you to take the Caliper assessment. They may need to resend the link if it is broken.
2. You are using a mobile device.
Please make certain that you are not using a mobile device to take the Caliper assessment; it functions best on a desktop or laptop computer.
3. You are attempting to use an unsupported or non-updated web browser.
The best web browser to use is Google Chrome or Firefox. Internet Explorer is often not updated and may cause problems when trying to save your answers.
Why can’t I move on from the first section?
Please review your answers; in the first section of the Caliper assessment, you should have two answers per question – one for “most” and one for “least”. If you only have one, the assessment will not let you continue.
What if I cannot complete the assessment in one sitting?
In order for your results to be consistent and accurate, we always recommend setting up enough time to take the full assessment at once. However, it is not timed, so if for some reason you need to close out and resume at another time, you can do so.
To get back to your assessment, please use the link that was e-mailed to you and log back in to resume where you left off.
Is the assessment compliant with federal guidelines?
The Caliper Profile has been developed in accordance with best practices issued by both the U.S. Department of Labor and the Uniform Guidelines of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Division 14 of the American Psychological Association.
Additionally, the Caliper Profile meets the legal requirements of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Studies conducted in applied settings continue to support the fact that the Caliper Profile is a reliable, valid, and defensible assessment for making employment-related decisions about job candidates.
Is the assessment scientifically validated?
